I woke up early and took a walk along the shoreline behind the San Rafael Home Depot where there is a path leading from near the Marin Rod and Gun Club all the way to the canal. I stopped at an inlet to one of the many man made marshy ponds and took advantage of some pilings as a foreground for some sunrise pics.
The Marin Islands stood in the distance, surrounded by the calm waters of the San Pablo Bay. One of the Bay Areas largest heron and egret rookeries is located on West Marin Island also home to a host of other birds.
